As an anthropologist, I teach to promote the understanding of variety within the humankind. To ensure that my students understand and appreciate different ways of being human, my teaching approach centers around helping students learn about their own embeddedness in structures of power; conveying the importance of empathy; and providing the tools to spot and analyze connections between larger social processes and their everyday lives.
